This weekend,\u00a0The Sydney Morning Herald (SMH)<\/strong>\u00a0reported that Ladbrokes Australia had split with industry standards associationResponsible Wagering Australia (RWA)<\/strong>\u00a0on the co-development of a new national responsibility framework.<\/p>\n Working with online bookmakers, RWA seeks to develop stronger reforms which will include a nation-wide self-exclusion scheme, supported with voluntary opt-out functions, betting limits on customer sign-up and a further ban on \u2018betting inducements\u2019 (bonuses, refer-a-friend).<\/p>\n Ladbrokes Australia is reported to be frustrated by the co-development of RWA\u2019s responsibility framework and whether it can service a consistent self-exclusion scheme.<\/p>\n The RWA is developing its responsibility mandate, with leading online bookmakers;\u00a0Sportsbet (Paddy Power Betfair), BetEasy (Stars Group Inc), and bet365.<\/strong><\/p>\n However, industry news sources report that Sportsbet and BetEasy, Australia\u2019s biggest online bookmakers have by-passed the RWA, working directly with the Australian government to develop a self-exclusion scheme.<\/p>\n Speaking to SMH,\u00a0Ladbrokes Australia General Counsel Patrick Brown<\/strong>\u00a0criticised Sportsbet and BetEasy actions;<\/p>\n \u201cThe design and implementation of most multi-operator self-exclusion schemes fail due to complexity.
