{"id":32,"date":"2018-08-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-08-11T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gbc.ng\/ladbrokes-license-will-be-suspended-for-one-day-in-september\/"},"modified":"2018-08-11T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-08-11T00:00:00","slug":"ladbrokes-license-will-be-suspended-for-one-day-in-september","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gbc.ng\/index.php\/ladbrokes-license-will-be-suspended-for-one-day-in-september\/","title":{"rendered":"LADBROKES\u2019 LICENSE WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR ONE DAY IN SEPTEMBER"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The license of the leading Belgian betting company will be suspended for 24 hours on the 3rd of September.<\/p>\n<p>The UK Gaming Commission issued the sanction against the Belgian branch of\u00a0Ladbrokes\u00a0for offering unauthorized virtual betting to its clients in 2017 and 2018, La Derni\u00e8re Heure, Het Laatste Nieuws and De Morgen dailies reported on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>No in-agency or online bets may be placed on the 3rd of September with Ladbrokes in Belgium. The company\u2019s 300 Belgian agencies, the roughly 100 bookstores linked to it and all Ladbrokes\u2019 digital operations will be suspended for 24 hours on that day.<\/p>\n<p>The sanction affects both Tierc\u00e9 Ladbroke SA and Derby SA, the Belgian daughter company of Ladbrokes PLC.<\/p>\n<p>Virtual sporting bets are bets in which the player wagers money on the result of an imaginary event. These were tolerated from 2012 to June 2017. However, Ladbrokes continued to offer virtual betting to its clients up to the 14th of March 2018, even though it was banned by law.<\/p>\n<p>The Gaming Commission initiated a sanctions procedure that led to the 24-hour suspension.
